This is such a gem! Very good food, friendly staff and really has reasonable price. Had to run here for lunch one Saturday that I forgot to bring lunch to work. Been here before, but never really made a review. Food is awesome. I ordered 1/2 chicken, dark meat, fried plantain amd fried rice. Staff was very friendly and service was fast. Will definitely come back and will try other sides. Highly recommended!

Comment: On a walk around the harbor and found this place on Baltimore St. primarily a take out place but they have a few tables to sit also. The staff was quick and helpful. I had a chicken bowl with beans and guacamole. The food was very good. Glad I stopped in.

    Overcooked, overcharged, and overrated.

The pulled chicken breast meat in my lunch bowl was overcooked and dried-out, and I only ate it because I was hungry. I have no idea what chicken other reviewers experienced, but this was the worst over-roasted well-done chicken I've ever had at a quick-serve Mexican place. Even the worst Chipotle I've ever had was 3X more edible than this. And apparently Pollo sells themselves on their charbroiled chicken. This blows my mind because there are dozens of Peruvian (not Mexican) chicken shops in the DMV that know what they're doing, so who exactly is Pollo trying to fool?

After requesting what I thought was a standard chicken bowl ($8.99) with the overcooked dried-out chicken, fajita veggies (80% onions), both pinto and black beans, pico de gallo, cold bean salad, chopped cilantro, shredded cheese, and both green and red salsa on the side, I gave them my credit card and they swiped it for $11.64. Wait a minute, that's more than 6% tax... Surprise! I got dinged with a $1.99 "Extra Meat" charge for no apparent reason. When I questioned it, the cashier's response was, "You got an extra item... we can't let you have everything, otherwise we would go out of business..." Uhhh okay, whatever. I didn't add guacamole (which is +$3.00) and I didn't ask for "Extra Meat". To be fair, I did politely ask for more pinto beans, and the food server obliged without hesitation or mention of an upcharge.

I suspect that they tried to sneak the "Extra Meat" charge in there because the cashier noticed that while the food server was assembling the bowl for me, my lunch partner decided to share my bowl instead of getting her own because when fully assembled, my bowl appeared to be a shareable size. But you shouldn't punish first time customers who aren't familiar with your bowl size.

After a few awkward seconds of what must've been a really perplexed and annoyed look on my face, the cashier handed me two dollar bills, which was cool, but unfortunately it didn't make my lunch taste any better.

The food here *looks* good, but overall the flavors of the individual ingredients are bland and vague. The house red salsa was the most interesting thing on my tray - it had decent spicy qualities - but overall this was a below-average bowl of food.

Overcooked chicken is pretty much the worst protein foul (fowl?) you can commit. If you like chicken well-done, this is your place. If you like chicken done well, you (probably) won't find it here.

Been meaning to check out Pollo since it opened while ai was away.. the food is excellent and the chicken very tasty and well seasoned. I purchased the half chicken with two sides. Rice with cilantro and beans and fries were both excellent and cooked to perfection. The inside had a few tables but this is a small carry out type place which is perfect if you are in the area and want some great chicken this is the place.

Came to get a bite to eat while my daughters were watching Hamilton across the street. Jonathan was very friendly and helpful. I ordered the chicken tacos and he hooked them up. I recommend this little place to anyone in the area. I would have given them five stars but they used pre made taco shells.
